NYC Jet Fuel Shortage, and a Staten Island Resident Cries Out "When is the Government Coming!"

Adam Munter writes:
More of the inevitable resource planning failures, this time at the centrally planned government airport due to their inherent ability to solve the economic calculation problem. Privately owned airlines are ensuring their ability to continue to operate by carrying extra fuel.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bloomberg readies for a marathon while his citizens are cold, hungry, and in the dark.

  1. "We're here to break through the red tape" says the man in the FEMA jacket.

    Unbelievable.

  2. The state wins again.

Bob Higgs summaries it all in this clip. Wait for the caller to finish her screed.

  3. You have a jacket Schumer, why don't you give it to the poor woman?

  4. Let's take this video at face value. This community is so impoverished, economically AND socially, that the only people this woman feels she can ask for help reside hundreds of miles away in Washington, D.C.

Isn't that sad? The neighbors can't help each other? Neighbors in a strange land far away must be relied upon?

What has this society become? A nation of frontiersmen, reduced to this? (An observation, not a judgment.)

  5. What a pathetic spectacle it is to see people reliant on the government for the basic necessities of life. Of course, the government loves when the citizens are in need with no one to turn to. It gives justification for their existence and expansion. It allows them to play the role of humanitarian.

Sadly, Donna, I've got news for you. If you're expecting sustenance from the cold, dead hands of bureaucrats, you're in for a long wait.

  6. What a pathetic joke of an excuse for a human being.

  7. This automatically-playing report that drones on forever is absolutely obnoxious as hell. Yes, you can stop it, but who knows if it keeps putting load on the network even when paused.

  8. This fool thinks the government is going to take care of her? Geez. When will people ever learn? sigh.

  10. The answer is: The government is not coming.

When your ass is on the line, it's easy to forget that the government is the problem, not the solution. Take action now to become self reliant or suffer the same outcome. You have no one to blame but yourself.
