The 2016 Presidential Race Is On: Rand Paul Attacks Chris Christie

After visiting the 51st state, Rand Paul appears to be in full 2016 presidential campaign mode.

Rand appeared on Friday on the Laura Ingraham Show and attacked New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for his criticism of the NRA and his grandstanding on Sandy aid, saying that they would hurt his chances during the Republican primary.

According to Ingraham's web site:
Paul claimed that Christie had “backed down” on gun rights: “You have some Republicans backing down like Christie backing down and criticizing the NRA, and I think that doesn't do any good.”

When asked by Ingraham why Christie made the comments, he responded that they were politically calculated. “I think he may be solidifying his support with Democrats in New Jersey and maybe liberal Republicans.”

Paul warned Christie that his criticism of the NRA, as well as his criticism of fellow Republicans over the Sandy relief bill, would come back to haunt him if he made a presidential run in 2016. “I think criticizing the Second Amendment movement and the over-the-top 'give me my money' stuff, 'I want all sixty billion now or I'll throw a tantrum,' I don't think that's going to play well in the Republican primary.”

    1. Try next year sometime, 2014. I remember Obama campaigning (unoficially i think) in 06 and this time since mid 2010. He gained a lot of steam in 06 and a bunch of media puff pieces.

  3. Too bad Rand isn't as good on foreign policy as he is on gun rights.

    1. Because it's easy for him to be good on gun rights. The Teocons will support that. Rand doesn't want to take on anything "tough." That's disappointing, and that's why he's no Ron Paul. On the primary trail, he's likely just to blend in with the Santorums (both kinds), Gingriches, Cains, etc.

Rand thinks he's being savvy, but he's really just burying himself in political stealth.

    2. Worth remembering Ron Paul spent 100 million in two campaigns and didn't crack over 23% in any primary, so it's not a winning strategy to be like Ron Paul. Rand needs to appeal to a wider base of support in order to pull in 35-40% to win these primaries. He starts with much better favorable ratings than Ron who was always in negative territory.

    3. Yes, because you can bomb the the fuck out of foreigners if it means you win. I'll take Ron Paul of a Romney or a Romney clone any day. If you don't have the principles, winning is meaningless.

  6. This just in...

Rand calls Christie "A fat do-do head." Christie holds breath until he turns purple.
