Obama:100 U.S. Military Personnel Deployed to Niger

President Obama says about 100 U.S. military personnel have been deployed to the African nation of Niger.

In a letter to Congress, Obama says the forces will focus on "intelligence sharing" with French troops fighting Islamist militants in neighboring Mali. He says the American forces have been deployed with weapons, "for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security."

In 1961, Kennedy agreed that 1000 US military advisors should be sent to South Vietnam to help train the South Vietnamese Army. [this]decision was not made public as it broke the agreements made at the 1954 Geneva Agreement.

  2. The alternative policy - the one never considered - is to bring the troops home, mind our own business, and cut the Pentagon budget by 80%. We'd have less terrorism, more personal freedoms, and possibly be financially solvent.

Finally we will be safe from the Niger hoards that were just about to invade conquer us!

    1. Agreed. I haven't slept for weeks, knowing that there's a bunch of Nigerians out there who aren't sharing intelligence. Thank Heaven for our Investor In Chief and his courageous deployments. If only we had 50,000 more drones...

  6. I just want to thank the president and the department of "defense" for painting a giant target on the back of my American family members in Niger. I am sure this drone outfit and their "security" will be there six months, max, before they have incinerated a wedding party, riddled a school bus with bullets, or engaged in some other idiotic overkill which will result in my kinsfolk being demoted from "foreign guest" to "dangerous enemy" or "useful hostage pawn."

    USA! USA!

Meanwhile, the US and its allies (Saudi Arabia and Qatar) are funding Islamist militants in Syria and Pakistan as they have done Libya and Egypt. It seems the two main goals of US policy in the East is to destabilize these countries to ferment more violence and of course spend treasure on its favored government contractors.
