Jesse Benton Flipping Out Over Challenger to McConnell

As word starts to leak out that Matt Bevin is set up to announce next week he'll challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the 2014 GOP primary,  Mitch McConnell's campaign manager Jesse Benton has gone into full panic attack mode. Talking Points Memo reports:
McConnell's campaign manager, Jesse Benton, attacked Bevin as an "East Coast con man," telling local media that "[w]hile it is sad to see someone who claims to be a Republican doing Barack Obama's bidding, his campaign is nothing more than a nuisance. Mitch McConnell will never waiver in his fight for our Kentucky values."

Originally from New Hampshire and educated at the Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine, Bevin, 46, moved to Louisville in the late 1990s after working as an investment consultant in Pennsylvania and Boston, according to a profile in a Louisville business journal.

Jesse he was born in Philadelphia, currently has a home in Texas, has business operations in Washington D.C. and advises McConnell in Kentucky. If Bevin is an East Cast con-man for running a hedge fund, what should we call Jesse, who seems to be all over the map and is best known for tanking Ron Paul's presidential campaign.

  1. I don't know if Benton "tanked" Ron Paul's campaign. I'd say the heavy media bias against him, especially from neoconservative Fox News, did the most damage. It was such a circus with clowns like Gingrich, Santorum, Bachman, Perry, Cain, etc. I couldn't believe people actually take these guys seriously.
