7 Things I Am More Concerned About Than a Terrorist Attack

What I am doing as a result of the new US government terrorist attack alert? Absolutely nothing.

The chance of a terrorist striking me is less than .000,000,0001%. However, there are things I am real concerned about:

1. Walking the streets late at night, for fear of being mugged by desperate, poorly educated public school youth, who are prevented from getting First Step jobs because of minimum wage laws.

2. Obamacare--which will  do nothing but introduce socialism to the medical sector and ultimately result in declining life expectancy in the U.S.

3. The growing surveillance state. Edward Snowden was very correct when he pointed out that what we have is a turnkey tyranny/spying state. The switch hasn't been turned on in a fashion that impacts most of us, yet. But, it is a switch that can be turned on at any time.

4. Crony capitalist/government deals that suffocate the free market system and put more power in the hands of crony capitalists, who feed more and more off the state.

5. Active operations by government to silence whistleblowers, and other exposers of government activities (See: Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden, Julian Assange), so that it becomes more difficult to understand what the government is up to.

6. Federal Reserve money printing that can explode into very strong inflation at anytime.

7. Federal Reserve money printing which results in a manipulated economy that causes the economy to go into cyclical manic-depressive states.

These are all very real dangers created by the state. When the state warns us of a potential terrorist attack, keep in mind what the state is doing to us on a daily basis--things that have a very real impact on our daily lives. The state is much more threatening to us than the less than  .000,000,0001% chance that we will be directly impacted by a terrorist attack.

Here's my alert: FEAR THE STATE, IT IS ATTACKING US NOW.

  1. This post goes straight for the jugular. And correctly so. I suppose you wouldn't mind if I try to translate it to portuguese in my blog.

  2. Another concern: that as the economy deteriorates (as it must), the elite will resort to war as a means of diverting the public's attention from the economic calamity that they caused. It has happened many times in the past, and this time is no different.

  4. "The switch hasn't been turned on in a fashion that impacts most of us, yet. But, it is a switch that can be turned on at any time."

It is not an off/on switch--it's a rheostat so the temperature can be turned up gradually so the frog doesn't jump out before it's cooked.

  5. The inflation you are worried about will solve your #1 concern since it will lower the real minimum wage.

    1. You are displaying your complete naivete as to how government works. Do you seriously think union leaders won't goad government into raising the minimum wage under price inflationary circumstances?

    1. You're blaming the decay of education in America over the last 40 years on the sequester? Not sure if serious, or trolling...

    2. Daniel,

It's amazing how you were able to pack so much ignorance into one sentence. Congratulations!

A few things worthy of note:

      1. The states and cities have taken it upon themselves to administer educational services for the better part of a century. Uncle Sam got involved in the late 70's. What do we have to show for their involvement? Would you like to defend their abysmal performance? Despite having the highest per capita spending on education in the entire world, government schools manage to churn out generations of functional illiterates that can barely fill out a job application, let alone get and hold a job.

      2. As for corporations "hoarding," might this be a result of the US having the world's highest corporate tax rate? Corporations have a fiduciary duty to maximize shareholder value, and if that means parking its revenues in less tax hostile environments, they can and should do so. Lower the rate and this phenomenon vanishes. You might even notice higher revenue, more jobs, and a higher standard of living.

      3. Your English is atrocious. The first letter in a sentence is capitalized. Use a spell check or proofread your messages. Throw in an apostrophe for contractions and possessive nouns.

    3. Very well said. I'm sure that Daniel is a product of our 'esteemed' educational system!

What are the odds of a cop striking you?

  8. Rhetoric! Rhetoric! Rhetoric! It works both ways. As much as it may seem on the surface that this post is written with an "eyes wide open" mentality it's actually the opposite. Snowden is a punk who not only showed he couldn't be a man and honor an employment contract, he also broke multiple laws and put other Americans at risk. Manning is just a lost soul. Poor guy. Inflation was 1.75 percent last time I checked in June. Nowhere near the 10 percent it was in 1981. Should we go the Ron Paul way? Thinking banks are these huge structures with granite pillars that hoard bags of money? Relax. And what is being manipulated in the economy? Are you talking QE? Because statistically QE2 boosted stock market prices and in turn ramped up consumption thus making it strong in 10. (Just one surface example, I'd love to elaborate if need be.) Obamacare is to early to call. But you have to be joking with your explanation. "which will do nothing but introduce socialism to the medical sector and ultimately result in declining life expectancy in the U.S." Really? We rank 38th in the world in overall healthcare. The gap has widen between us and lets say Sweden in regards Probability of death from teenage years to 60's. Their probability is not only much lower BUT it continues to drop where ours does not. Infant mortality rate, US 6.7, Sweden 2.1. Granted the population plays a part, but my main thesis still stands. We have been steadily dropping as a country in terms of healthcare for years. Something needs to be done, whether this is it, I don't know but trying to relate socialist healthcare to actual quality of life is absurd. No statistic backs it up. Enjoy.

    1. Obamacare is to early to call? Are you serious? Are we to wait to see the full impact of its affect on the health of our American people? Have we no statistics to lean on? What about reviewing how socialized medicine has worked in other countries? How about seeing how it has failed in those countries? Lower life expectancies. Rationed healthcare. Death panels. We don't need to wait. The proof is out there. Doctors leave socialized medicine regimes to come here and practice. There is no plan to increase medical teams either for the hoards of illegals that will continue to take advantage of our health system. AND where is the money to come from to pay for all of this? Certain diagnostic programs are already being eliminated because there is no money to continue under the socialized medicine program.
