One man was killed and 11 other people were wounded in citywide gun violence since Monday afternoon, including five people who were shot outside a church on a Chicago Public Schools “Safe Passage” route on the North Side.[...]
The shooting happened outside the Uptown Baptist Church. Senior church pastor Michael Allen said in a tweet that about 20 gunshots were fired outside during the church’s Monday night meal for the homeless. “Blood pools at church steps. Pray for us,” Allen said on Twitter.
Tuesday morning, a man was shot to death in West Englewood, police said.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head near 62nd Street and Ashland Avenue about 4:06 a.m., police said.
