TSA-Type Drama at U.S. Open

CBS New York reports:
The USTA has implemented new safety procedures for this year’s tournament. All fans will have to go through metal detectors for the first time.

As WCBS 880′s Peter Haskell reported, the additional security checks had some fans lined up waiting to enter the grounds for up to two hours earlier Monday. The Associated Press reported that the lines snaked for a quarter mile or more — from the exit point of the No. 7 train to the east entrance of the Billie Jean King Tennis Center.

“This is terrible, this is horrible. I’ve been going to the US Open for the last 10 years, I’ve never seen it like this,” one fan told Haskell.

  1. Add the NFL's clear plastic one bag and sports fans might as well be frequent flyers.

  2. This just in: The United States Tennis Association has announced that they have changed the name of the U S Open to the U S Closed to more accurately reflect the spirit of this year's event.

In an effort to better protect participants and attendees, everyone's balls will be photographed, profiled, groped, and added to the TSA's new "BallBuster" database in an ongoing effort to provide law enforcement and the NSA with real time reports on any nut cases in the area so they can be bagged in a timely manner.

TSA spokesman Harry Scrotum stated for the record, "It's nothing to be concerned about, just a new wrinkle in our ever expanding bag of tricks - just trying to keep our eyes on your balls, uhhh make that the ball..."

    2. 'our ever expanding bag of tricks' actually that should have been tools in the tool box which works with your theme better and is a phrase the tools actually use.

  3. However, those well known hooligans, tennis fans, didn't walk away in protest, did they?

  4. I went to a Detroit Lions game in November, 2011 and the multiple outdoor security lines caused a crowd to form of several hundred people all bunched together and creating probably a bigger and easier target for a "terrorist" than anything that might form inside the stadium.

    Sheep.
