Rand Paul's View on War

Taken from his "Dear Colleague" letter:
War is not some geopolitical chess game. It is, at best, a necessary evil. It should never be the first option. It should occur only when America is attacked or threatened, or when American interests are attacked or threatened. And only when all other options have been played out.

" American interests," I wonder who Rand has in mind.

  1. But, our interests are attacked and threatened everyday and nobody in government says a thing. It's called taxing our paychecks automatic. Or, just taxing our work and scorching our opportunities. These taxes and spending are economically aborting the next generations. People are deciding to not have kids because it's a burden or they're too worried that they wouldn't be able to make it.

Therefore, whenever you hear "attacked or threatened", it's always with a hint of collectivism as if the government is a part of us and has our best "interests" in mind.

Besides, all of this anti-war stuff from conservatives means nothing until they get the idea that profiteering war machine, the military, needs to be abolished. No written law will make a president or a government stop its actions until they get rid of their toys.

  2. Rand likely considers Israel an American interest.

PAUL: Well absolutely, we stand with Israel, but what I think we should do is announce to the world, and i think it is well-known, that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States. (source: Breitbart News)

    1. Yup, and there is the problem. Like your typical neocon he thinks Israel is the 51st state of the union. He lost all credibility when he said that.

    2. Of course "American interests" is a dog whistle for Israel. He's trying to attract the premillennialists who believe Israel plays a role in the rapture. He needs to win them over to have a shot at the nomination. The practical implication is that the US can get dragged into a war over fair tales and "Jesus rode a dinosaur" nonsense.

"The State of Israel is essential to set the stage for the imminent return of Jesus. At the time of the Second Coming, these Christians believe, Jesus will descend from heaven, subdue all of Israel's enemies and take believers to heaven in what is known as the Rapture--literally, they will ascend to the clouds to be in heaven."

  3. A voice of reason in a sea of insanity. In former times, Dr. Paul would be forced to drink hemlock...

    1. Dude, that's actually a coded message from Rand to the CIA requesting a false flag attack against some US ship, ambassadors, etc. in order for Rand to be comfortable with providing the Rand Paul seal of approval.

  5. Yes, "American interests". That usually is code for imperialism.
