    From what I have seen in American politics, the new youth libertarians are coming largely from 'traditional conservative' backgrounds. That is, for the past two generations, the youth was generally ~70% liberal/socialist, with the balance being those that adopt the conservatism of their parents at an early age. Now, we still have ~60% in favor of the state, but the remainder have figured out what 'conservatism' is and have sought out true freedom instead. This is admirable, and good news for the long term future of the Republican party (or its successor), but the indoctrinated statists are nearly as numerous as ever, and I see few people from their environment turning to libertarianism.
