OMG, Bill deBlasio Tells New Yorkers What to Expect If He Is Elected Mayor

With polls showing Democrat Bill deBlasio with a 40 point plus lead over Republican Joe Lahota, deBlasio is almost certain to be the next mayor of New York City.

NYT reports:
New York appears headed for a sharp left turn when voters select a new mayor in November.

“I’m a progressive,” said Bill de Blasio, the city’s public advocate and dominant front-runner in the mayoral campaign. “I believe in an activist role of government. I’ve been exceedingly clear that I borrow from the distant but still very pertinent examples of Franklin Roosevelt and [former mayor] Fiorello LaGuardia. And I think it is time, especially at this moment in history, for activist, progressive government that will address the inequalities we are facing.”

  1. Hmm, an honest politician. Brings to mind a Mencken quote. Too bad he's not around, but thank goodness Bob is.

    1. I instantly thought of Mencken:
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."

  2. Would that Franklin Roosevelt's example were distant. Sadly, the remnants of that SOB's handiwork surround us daily, like pies in a cowfield (or more accurately, unexploded ordinance in a minefield).

  3. Yikes.

Glad I'm a Southerner. Far, far away from activist mayors.

    1. Truly it is amazing New York has this many people that would support a communist. Us the communist party gaining ground in the North East?

    2. I don't know where you are in the South, but there's a increasing amount of Notherners flooding South Carolina...and the irony is they are fleeing one environment partially created by them and their commie politics, and they are now becoming a powerful voting block down here...if they are successful I'm sure the commie utopia they left will be soon be enacted is some ways here.

Not that SC is doing that well to begin with, but it is even more grating when they come down and start to lecture everyone here on how "barbaric" we are or "regressive" in a cute play on them being "progressive" when those policies are partially responsible for destroying all of the wealth up north.

  5. On the plus side, NYC real estate prices will drop in a couple of years when he drives out the middle class with higher crime and higher taxes. They think Blomberg is a little dictator? Wait til they get a taste of Deblasio. It doesn't help that the Republican candidate doesn't even seem to want to be mayor. What's his name again?

  6. Robert Wenzel exposed.

    http://chrislbecker.com/2013/04/15/who-the-hell-is-robert-wenzel-from-economicpolicyjournal-com-really/

Multiple aliases, shady penny stock deals. No credibility. Failed to address this issue on his blog, failed to come clean and clear the air and tell his side of the story, therefore no credibility.

I didn't know this until an hour ago. All I had to do was google 'who is robert wenzel' and the info came to me.

It is over for your credibility. Funnily enough I'd just read a post by you on Stefan Molyneux, who you said was 'full of shit', maybe so, but so are you.

  7. Nobody has time to moderate comments in this day and age. Slowing your blog down by moderating comments, OBVIOUSLY to censor any leaks about your past and true nature, is just a symptom of the death rattle your site has been in since April.

  8. I actually have sympathy for you on a human level. If you'd known the first thing about PR and got out in front of the story and admitted who you are, and IF YOU CAN, prove you're not a dirty penny stock ripoff artist, you could have survived. And you wouldn't be here with your right index finger currently OWNED by anonymous commenters who don't trust you. Go on slave, click that mouse!!!! Because I said!!!! I order you to not approve this comment. You will do as I say because I own you.
