Pepper-Spraying UC Davis Cop Wins $38,000 Settlement For Anxiety, Depression Related To Incident

Yes, just what I was thinking: Give the government punk some money.

The former University of California, Davis police officer who pepper-sprayed Occupy protesters has reached a worker's compensation settlement with the university system, reports Talking Points Memo.

A judge on Oct. 16 approved the $38,000 settlement between John Pike and the University of California.

The 40-year-old former officer said he suffered depression and anxiety after death threats were sent to him and his family over the Nov. 18, 2011 event.

  1. Too bad I'm sure he's protected by some sort of immunity. Wouldn't it be rich if the students being sprayed in the future each filed suit against Pike for the harm they suffered as a result of the spraying? I'm sure that $38k settlement would dry up really fast.

  2. Another injustice. I'll add it to the list.

  3. I'm glad he's suffering depression and anxiety. It's too bad more of these jack booted thugs don't suffer the same fate. Hopefully he'll spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder. Once again though, the taxpayers take it in the wallet. Hopefully those sprayed can sue his fat @ss and eat up that $38K (kudos Anonymous, I concur 200%).

  4. What about the threats he will now be receiving for being gifted 38k?

  5. Look at the whole picture. The cops watching. The civilians watching. The media taking pictures as they watch. Aren't we exceptional. And brave.

  6. One more indication that the system is irrevocably broken and unsalvagable.
