The second-in-command at U.S. Strategic Command which controls the nation's nuclear arsenal has been suspended pending a criminal investigation into allegations he used a 'significant amount' of counterfeit gambling chips in a poker game at his favorite Iowa Casino.
StratCom commander General Robert Kehler placed Vice-Admiral Tim Giardina on suspension from his deputy commander duties on September 3rd, confirmed Navy Captain Pamela Kunze.
David Dales with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation told ABC News that his agency was alerted in June to the introduction of fake poker chips at the Horseshoe Council Bluff's Casino in Iowa, just over the the Missouri River from Omaha, Nebraska, where Stratcom is headquartered.
