Six-Week Extension of Debt-Ceiling Weighed

House Republican leaders are coalescing around a plan to provide a six-week extension of the debt limit - putting off the threat of default until early December and allowing time for negotiations on a broader budget agreement, ABC News isreporting, citing a House Republican leadership source. This plan involves only raising the debt ceiling and does not fund the government, ABC said.

UPDATE

House Republicans are meeting Thursday morning and leaders including Speaker John Boehner are planning to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House in the afternoon.

  1. So, basically, it can throw off the default and debt limit into oblivion if it wants to - well until everything hits the fan. I wished I could do that with my bills.

    1. Someone other than a lender has imposed a debt limit on you? Are you under conservatorship? Did your guardian impose a debt limit on you?

    3. @ Wolfgang Yeah, I put a debt limit on myself. That, and how much I make put in with what I can't afford. Plus, when things are due, people expect me to be responsible.
