The Senate Banking Committee just voted to back President Obama's nomination of Janet Yellen to lead the Federal Reserve. With 14 yes votes and 8 no votes.
Yellen was backed by all of the panel's Democrats except West Virginia's Joe Manchin. Republicans Bob Corker of Tennessee, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Mark Kirk of Illinois also voted to approve her.
The nomination now moves to the Senate floor, where she is expected to be confirmed.
