Warhol Goes for $104.5 Million

On the heels of a record setting auction at Christie's, an Andy Warhol paiting sold for $104.5 million at Sotheby’s contemporary art auction on Wednesday night, making it the highest price ever paid at auction for a Warhol.

The Warhol, “Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster),” is one of only four double-paneled car crash paintings that Warhol created in 1963, when he was 35, and the last of its size left in private hands. The three others are in museums, according to NYT.
