NFL to Consider Elimination of Point After Touchdown Kicks

National Football League commissioner  Roger Goodell said yesterday during an interview on the NFL Network that the league is going to take under consideration the elimination of the point after touchdown kick.

The commissioner said the point after has become too automatic with 99.1% of all attempts made.

Under consideration will be eliminating the point after and assigning an immediate 7 points for a touchdown.

According to Goodell, a team would still have the option of going for a two point play by successfully getting the football into the end zone by a pass or a running play. However, if the two point play is unsuccessful, the team would be penalized one point and awarded only 6 points after the touchdown,

  1. Great. Now, the USA should consider eliminating subsidies for the NFL

    1. This should apply to all US sports leagues and in addition end MLB's anti-trust exemption.

  2. "NFL to Consider Elimination of Point After Touchdown Kicks"

In a related story, National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell said that he was also considering eliminating Quaterbacks, Running Backs, and Tight Ends. "There's just too many people touching the balls", said Goodall, "It's confusing to old folks like me, and hell, it's wearing out too many balls. Keep your hands of my damn balls!!!", said Goodell...

  3. Americans, why not forget this boring stupid attempt to squeeze 30 minutes of action out a stone, watch decent oval ball sports instead.

    1. 30 minutes? You're too generous.

  4. These a-holes probably don't realize that part of what makes football exciting is the 0.9% PAT misses. You know, like when the score becomes 35-34 and the team needs that point and bones it. Or they go for the two point conversion...that's exiting whether they make it or not.

NFL shouldn't mess with the rules.

Well, they should mess with the rules unless Jerry Wolfgang says it's ok. If he says it's ok, it's gotta be ok. Fact.

    1. Why don't they just push the kick back about 10 yards? I bet that would drop the % by a hefty amount...

  5. 100% of NFL games result in a winner. They should just declare a winner following the coin flip and do away with the games.

  6. No way they will ever do this for one reason: it will mean less ad revenue for the networks.

    1. Ok, I didn't have my coffee yet when I wrote this. I don't think it would have any impact on ads.

  7. Make the extra point kick from the 20 yd line, and the two point conversion try from the 2. That would make it more interesting, especially in bad weather.
