Some Libertarian: Rand Paul Calls for the Jailing of Edward Snowden

On FOX news, Rand Paul said it would be “enlightening” for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and intelligence director James Clapper to “share a prison cell,” noting “the law has to be applied equally.”

  2. Maybe the apple didn't fall far from the tree, but then it rolled a very long way downhill.

Rand puts himself on the other side of the law as Snowden. If, as I believe, Snowden is a hero, then where does that put Rand Paul. Maybe he should be the one to share a cell with Clapper, along with so many others.

  3. I'm no Rand fan, but I don't think your title accurately reflects the point he was making, which is why aren't the people demanding Snowden ' s head for leaking not asking for Clapper ' s for perjury.

  4. 1. He isn't a libertarian by his own admission.
    2. I think he wants to be President too badly.

  5. Rand must be stupid.

Even if there are calls for both Clapper and Snowden to be jailed, only Snowden will end up in prison.

  6. Do you think he was serious, or perhaps could he have been saying so in jest? The bigger news is his lawsuit.

  7. Rand's brothers didn't want to be Senators, which is why we should have supported them instead of Rand. It's also why we should push Napolitano into running for President. Rand wants to be President; Napolitano doesn't.

    1. Dear, Anonymous @ 8:57 PM

      The system is broken.
At this point, it does not matter who gets elected. Nothing will change. ... Until it all goes, 'crack-up-boom'.
With luck, we won't have presidents, then.

  8. His point was that if Snowden belongs in jail, Clapper belongs in jail *more so*. See the actual context: http://dailycaller.com/2014/01/04/rand-paul-james-clapper-and-edward-snowden-should-share-a-prison-cell-video/

    1. He should have said Ed Snowden does NOT belong in jail, period.
Has he ever said such a thing?

If not, then the implication is obvious: he thinks BOTH of them belong in jail.

  9. Rand's a fool if the thinks the neocons will ever let him become president. He'll just be used to keep libertarians in the Republican party for several more election cycles.

    1. And of course those libertarians, if they are libertarian, are fools themselves as well.

  10. His point was that if snowden is a criminal then clapper is as well. If the administration is going to prosecute one, then they must prosecute the other. Making the point that the obama admin and holders doj must stop selective enforcement of our laws.
