About that Firm that Facebook Just Acquired for $19 Billion

Prior to the news that Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion, I had never heard of WhatsApp.

I do see that Google attempted to recently acquire the firm for a measly $1 billion.

Here is a YouTube story on WhattsApp from just 8 months ago:

Here is a 2 year old review:

I just downloaded the app to my cellphone, but I am not sure how how much I will actually be using the app. My favorite cell phone app is Tick Tick.

  1. I put it on my cellphone 3 years ago to ostensibly text relatives in Taiwan (the app was big in Asia, apparently). I think I actually used it twice.

  2. It's best for keeping in touch with people internationally.

  3. This is a great app. I keep in touch with friends and family in India and across the world using WhatsApp. App is simple and is hugely popular in Asia. I use it at least 10 times a day - more than Facebook on my cell.

  4. No WAY is whatsapp worth 19 billion dollars. The technology in whatsapp is straightforward and there are competitors that do the tech side better. So the 19 billion dollars is for the brand.
