DRAMA Fry Cook Shifted to Part-Time Work Confronts Obama

During a Google Hangout session last week Friday, fry cook Darnell Summers told President Obama that his hours were cut due to the Affordable Care Act. “We were broken down to part time to avoid paying health insurance,” he said. Summers explained that he makes $7.25 an hour and has been on strike four times seeking a wage increase. “We can’t survive, it’s not livin’,” he said.

Obama responded by babbling that states should increase the minimum wage. “I am working to encourage states, governors, mayors, state legislators to raise their own minimum wage,” Obama said. “Obviously, the way to reach millions of people would be for Congress to pass a new federal minimum wage law. So far, at least, we have not seen support from Republicans for such a move.”

Got that? Summers got his hours cut from full time to part time because of the increased costs of Obamacare that his employer faced and Obama's solution is to call for a higher minimum wage, which would even add greater cost to the employer.

If the minimum wage is raised, as Obama calls for, Darnell under Obama is likely to experience full time to part time to no time and unemployment line time.

  1. Good reporting Robert...we have entered a vicious circle of new govt. meddling to fix the unintended consequences of prior bureaucratic diktats...of course, you would be well served in convincing independents and apathetic people that this won't necessarily cause unemployment on a large scale initially as they will pick a mandatory wage # which is "ineleastic"...ofcourse we see how stable the relationship is in countries like PIIGS-France in the Eurozone with youth unemployment during an economic contractions.

The problem I have is that independent point to prior wage mandates saying that it did not affect unemployment.

The Far Left is a lost cause - but unless we can convince the above group and figure out the best way to persuade them using cogent arguments...the establishment media will continue to clean our clock.

Keep up the good work on this blog!

    1. We will never convince them. Only hunger will convince them that their policies are damaging, and unfortunately, those calling the shots will never experience it.

    1. By the way, you can also attend Uncle Scalia's new interment camp this summer if you do not agree with the shit they give you.

    2. You are being incoherent.
Make your message more clear in terms of who exactly you are directing the message to. To Americans in general; specific groups of Americans; supporters of money printing, spending and borrowing; statists; libertarians, etc.

Or are you one of those nationalists that generalizes a whole population as if it one monolithic entity?

Also you seem to be confused about Scalia's internment camp. He's AGAINST it, but simply warns that the law (which he supports) will not stop the creation of internment camps in the future.

  4. I don't want to sound callous or rude, but... a fry cook thought going on strike was going to result in magically higher wages? He thought this FOUR TIMES?

    2. Yeah, and when the states raise the minimum wage and he gets canned altogether, i'm sure he'll understand it's because that's how economics work....NOT.

    3. Maybe, just maybe, being a fry cook isn't SUPPOSED to be a high paying job? I mean, unless you're running the joint, it's a minimum wage, get some work experience kind of job.

  6. I listened to Darnell describe his plight with mild interest. Economically befuddled as he may be, his is at least an earnest account. I then endured nearly 9 seconds of Dear Leader's response before nausea set in and I ceased playback. Oh, how I loathe that man's voice and countenance.
