Rand Paul is the star and lighthouse of the libertarian movement as evidenced by his success at the past few CPACs, success he seems to have inherited from his father.Let's make it clear. Rand's father has not endorsed Mitch McConnell (He has endorsed Murray Sabrin). Rand's father has never called for the extension of unemployment benefits for any reason, and he certainly did not support George Bush military adventures of the United States empire.
I don't know about a DNA test, but Rand sure doesn't pass the Ron Paul libertarian philosophy test.
Libertarians cannot get rid of the sheriff by joining the posse.
ReplyDeleteRand Paul isn't even a flashlight of the libertarian movement. He's the bane of the libertarian movement simply by virtue of being called one by the likes of the WaPo.
ReplyDeleteAnd there was no libertarian movement at CPAC. They were conservatives, not libertarians.
Libertarians aren't supporters of the GOP.
The MSM hangs the libertarian placard on anyone on the right that does not conform to the norms of the neocon/progressive line of thinking. Its as laughable as Progressives or Neocon's acting as though they have nothing in common with each other, when they are both just opposite sides of the same coin. Nothing but, statist control freaks that seek to use the power of the state to impose their sense or morality on everyone else.
DeleteStart thinking of a new word to describe yourself. Like liberal before it, libertarian is going to get a new definition and none of us will be able to stop it.
ReplyDeleteYup. This is getting really old. Every fucking time we think of a term for liberty it gets co-opted because of these fucking moronic Rand supporters.
DeleteSomeone has suggested 'Rothbardian'....which I have become determined to use. The reason being that among my casual aquaintances, "libertarian' smacks them as close to being a 'Truther; or some far-out-there something or other.
DeleteAt least "Rothbardian" has the advantage of not being a word in use at all, therefore escaping pre-conceived notion.
I like "Rothbardian" too, Voluntaryist is on my list as well. Using Rothbard in the name gets curious people to look him up, but using "voluntary" in the name says something upfront, on the surface- and gets you to Rothbard eventually.
DeleteI think the goal is to find a word that is not as easily corrupted..."Rothbardian" would be almost impossible to corrupt...I would normally say the same thing about "Volunaryism", but who'd have thought 30 or 40 years ago that "libertarian" would have been co-opted by the GOP?
Step 1: Minimize what you are afraid of by co-opting it and fraction it by diluting the message.
ReplyDeleteThere is no mistake in what is happening, which is the reason why we must sing from the roof-tops that Rand Paul is not Libertarian.
I need an extra bucket, as Mr. Creosote might say.
ReplyDeleteThis is basically the conservative movement and their media minions like WaPo attempting to trick the masses that people like Rand are libertarians. While people like Lew Rockwell, Adam Kokesh and others are painted as terrorist supporters, "secret" liberals, traitors, etc. The best we can do is point out how Rand is not Ron and isn't a libertarian.
ReplyDelete""secret" liberals, traitors"
DeleteLOL! Yeah. It's so funny because the idiot fuck turd left think people like Lew Rockwell are "hard right conservatives" and evil neocons think they're some kind of secret liberals.
I remember well being attacked the same way back in 2003. It was so pathetic but yet so funny! These blind shit heads are hilarious. They don't seem to have a single original thought in their heads and just repeat whatever the idiot box says. But, as I always say, stupid is as stupid does.
