Seattle City Council Socialist Challenged Face-to-Face About Minimum Wage

I am really trying hard here to understand the comment to small business owners made by Seattle City Council member and socialist Kshama Sawant, but I am having no luck. KIRO TV in Seattle reports:
The leading proponent of a $15 an hour minimum wage in Seattle was challenged face-to-face today. Kshama Sawant engaged with small businesses owners worried about their survival. The impromptu meeting came after a City Council briefing on the implications of raising the minimum wage 63 percent, from $9.32 an hour to $15...

“My argument here is there's just not enough,” said Thomas Mason of the current minimum wage. “I mean I'm barely scraping by. I'm lucky if I pay my phone bill.”

Councilmembers also heard of dire consequences for small business owners, criticizing Sawant’s push for $15.

“There will be unemployment. People will lose their jobs,” said business owner Mike Klotz.

After the meeting, Sawant didn't shy away from her critics...

“Let's not let the debate be clogged in this divisive thing where it's small businesses versus low wage workers because in reality both low wage workers and small businesses are suffering,” Sawant said.

What the hell is she smoking? They're going to suffer because her ridiculous belief system is going to price both of them out of the labor market. This woman must be a real dope. She is getting first hand accounts as to the consequences of her actions and her only response is some political speak and essentially ignore it.

    1. These attributes of a political ideologue. They will steadfastly adhere to their belief system despite the consequences of their policy prescriptions. The same mindset is prevalent for Obamacare advocates, Iraq War proponents, etc. Democrats like Harry Reid refuse to acknowledge the effects of Obamacare. Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh refuse to concede that the Iraq War was a mistake.

She's already given up the debate...she's basically saying "blah blah blah, I can't hear you!".

She'll do it anyway if she can build a coalition because that's what government power is all about. Logic is a foreign language to her.

    3. "This woman must be a real dope". No, a demagogue who has no love for her fellow man contrary to what she may assert and a perfect example of local politics being just as corrupt at the local level as it is at any other. Spot on otherwise.

So, IOW, like any idiot socialist (that was redundant) she wants to pretend that there isn't a problem here. Damn, do these stupid ass socialists ever have their heads in the fucking clouds!

Hmmm. RW, mail here a copy of Mises book, Socialism before my head explodes.

  3. Ahh, yes. Everything else she has said makes to much sense, it's hard to believe that she's now saying something that doesn't. [rolls eyes]

  4. Typical socialist parasite. Why doesn't she offer to show these business owners how to make it work. Or even better, how about starting business to employ these minimum wage earners? Why is it always someone elses responsibility other then the socialists to create private sector jobs?

  5. Let's face it, small businesses are annoying. Wouldn't it be much better if we could go to Target for everything? ;)
