Sen. Reid on Cattle Battle: "It's not over"

News 4 in Reno reports:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hasn't been very vocal about the cattle battle showdown in recent days, but says "it's not over."

Reid tells News4's Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. "Well, it's not over. We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it's not over," Reid said.

What I wrote yesterday still holds:
1. The government agents were clearly outnumbered. If there were more of them and better prepared, with water cannons, tear gas etc., the outcome would have been different.

2. This might not be over. The government doesn't like to lose showdowns. The only thing that may keep the government away is the blowback that is developing against Senate majority leader Harry Reid since the BLM operation at the Bundy Ranch was exposed as an operation to benefit crony Reid-China deal (SEE: Is Harry Reid Behind The BLM SWAT-type Move at the Bundy Ranch?)

3. Both sides are going to use this as a teaching moment. The government will use it to study what went wrong and how to deal with such a situation in the future.. The protesters, and their supporters around the country, will use this as a rallying point to show that aggressive government can be confronted and stopped. It will likely lead to escalation at similar confrontations down the road.

4. It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly.
If Reid doesn't think his connection to the BLM move on the Bundy Ranch  will be bad publicity for him, given his crony connection to the move, the BLM will be back with massive reinforcements. And given Reid's statement to News 4, it appears he has no fear. This is going to get ugly.

  1. "It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly."

Until the moment is right. Then the government collapses without much resistance. Even when it has nukes and looked invincible just a year ago. Been there, done that.

  2. What's more likely to happen is the Feds have already targeted the lead people protesting and will make a visit to see them late some night in the near future and take them away for a little stay in a cell. Then they'll go collect the cattle again, with ten times the number of thugs they had before.

  3. Can you say "Waco" or "Ruby Ridge"? As far as Reid is concerned, can you say "recall"?! What an @sshat!

  4. For some reason this situation reminds me of the fugitive slave laws: "Can't have American people violate the law, lettin' their slaves run free."

  5. Is this a threat Mr Reid?.....Law suit anyone.

  6. When a government becomes self serving, as the case with Harry Reid, it is no longer a democracy. The people have spoken. It would be prudent for the upper-hand ( Yes, you Mr. Reid) to listen closely.

  7. Nevada AG needs to file RICO charges for this to stop, iow, no one will stop Harry from getting his way.

  8. Did you read the comments on the News4 report you linked? No support for Reid there!

  9. "We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it."

this attitude with the liberals and democrats views towards the people who BREAK THE LAW and ILLEGALLY enter our nation, illegally obtain welfare, foodstamps, housing vouchers, and all the other theft from the welfare and illegal classes. (including welfare, food stamps and ebt fraud) all stolen from taxpayers - what about THAT violation of law?

to this obama, VP biden and AG eric holder all say the law is “flexible” to their choice of what to enforce - and they choose NOT to enforce our borders or the breaking of laws by these illegal immigrants and others. (as long as it suits their voting block)

WTF - this just make my head spin
