Che Guevara Exposed

May Day has become an annual rallying point for socialists, communists, and other left-wing groups despite the clear and horrendous record of totalitarian ideologies. More disturbingly, the cult of Ernesto Che Guevara remains alive and well on the American cultural scene, especially among college students and others who continue to sport his iconic image on t-shirts, hats, posters, etc., writes the Independent Institute in an email.

II features in the email a book by Alvaro Vargas Llosa: The Che Guevara Myth and the Future of Liberty.

From the book's blurb:
Nearly four decades after his death, the legend of Che Guevara has grown worldwide. In this new book, Alvaro Vargas Llosa separates the myth from the reality of Che's legacy, and shows that Che's ideals were a re-hash of notions about centralized power that have long been the major source of suffering and misery in the underdeveloped world. With testimonies from witnesses of Che's actions, Alberto Vargas Llosa's detailed account of the "real Che" sets the record straight by exposing the delusion at the heart of the Che phenomenon. Vargas Llosa shows that Che's legacy—making the law subservient to the most powerful, crushing any and all dissent, and concentrating wealth under the guise of "social equality"—is not the solution to poverty and injustice but is the core of the problem.

Besides exposing the dark truths of Che's ideology and actionsThe Che Guevara Myth and the Future of Liberty elaborates on attempts by both the left and right to suppress liberty and examines the manifestation of Latin American spirit throughout the ages, from early indigenous trade to today's enterprising communities overcoming government impediments. In so doing, the book points to the real revolution among the poor—the liberation of individuals from the constraints of state power in all spheres, public and private.

Whether you love or hate Che, TThe Che Guevara Myth and the Future of Libertywill not leave you untouched and will provide a powerful, new perspective on how to overcome the challenges facing the Third World.

  1. Warren Exposed

Of course, Warren Buffett chimed in on high trailer home loan interest rates (because of high risk). “Warren Buffett, the billionaire chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., lamented the punitive rates charged to purchase factory-built homes in his 2009 annual letter to shareholders.”

Buffett’s Berkshire owns Clayton Homes Inc., a builder of manufactured homes that would stand to gain if Freddie Mac gets involved in the dangerous manufactured housing loan business.

Buffett’s Berkshire also owns Burlington Norther Santa Fe railroad which would lose money if the Keystone Pipeline was actually built.

    What an amazing coincidence.

    2. The best Che t-shirt has the caption "I don't know this man" underneath the iconic picture. This was worn by a Hispanic student at the high school I work at... so I immediately printed out an article by Alvaro Vargas Llosa on Che and gave it to the kid. He really had no idea who this guy was. LOL

  3. Fascinating historical sidenote: The "iconic" Che image was created by the husband of Mises stepdaughter.

  5. I once asked some left wing twit why they are wearing a shirt with a murdering terrorist on the front. They looked almost shocked and then told me he only hurt evil capitalists that were exploiting the people. She said he was a great leader because he was for the working people. I then asked her if she had ever studied the history of 20th century dictators and which ones did she like the most". In the most indignant voice she said "Che was not a dictator, dictators are evil, Che was a warrior for the working people." I then told her, "you do realize that every dictator in the 20th century, including Hitler, had a platform of being for the working man? I then asked her, how do you know the difference between the evil ones and the good ones?" With that she huffed off.

    1. See? Like I said. It's all about EMOTION. No logic, no reason, no thinking of any kind. just "I want to believe it" bullshit. Like I said before, no amount of evidence or "civil dialogue" will penetrate such a think headed pea brain. They hear only what they want to hear.
