Rating the FDA by Division

Here is the mean time to drug approval across divisions, based on research in the new paper, An FDA Report Card, by Joseph A. DiMasi, Christopher-Paul Milne and Alex Tabarrok.

  1. Looks like the two with the most organized sufferers get the quickest results, Cancer and AIDS.

I am surprised the Cardiovascular has the worse numbers, they need to get organized and get a colored ribbon or something.

  2. And then there is tobacco products approvals: 17 approvals out of nearly 2,000 applications. How do you create an average time when the 90+% have an infinite approval time?
