    Another interesting aspect of this letter is that Fidel lied about his age when he wrote it, he was 14 at the time.

    Correct me if I'm wrong when Castro took power in Cuba didn't he actually extend a hand to the US government in a way that he wanted Cuba be communist but neutral (in the same guise that Tito's Yugoslavia) and be friends with both the US and Soviets? I've heard the theory a few times.
