Now Bob, that's an inappropriate conclusion to draw from that chart given subjective value, no? I mean, maybe us White people are just panzees? For instance, the recent string of banker suicides(?).
Do you have the numbers as a proportion of the total population for each group. There are a lot more white people than black and Asian, so a number per 100,000 people would be a better guide.
That is the best comparison. Also note that the male/female ratio is similar in all racial groups. But I would like to see per capita rates for each race to see if there are real disparities there, or if it is just a result of a larger white population.

ReplyDeleteBut yea, I agree no race is oppressed.
I find it particularly disturbing that the mainstream media puts forth considerable effort to keep this sort of information under the radar...
ReplyDeleteWe just have nothing to blame our failures on, but ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSo 28% of white males killed themselves in 2011?
ReplyDeleteIt's absolute numbers, not percentages.
DeleteThe original title said "per 100,000". It was corrected since then.

ReplyDeleteTrue. But the white male to female rate is telling.
