The Difference Between Buying a House in the Winter vs. the Summer

Te chart below, via The Atlantic, shows the average change in house prices between 1991 and 2012, by season. Earlier this year,I discussed why it is generally better to buy or rent in the winter here: The Best Time to Buy a House or Rent an Apartment.

  1. What is the Y-axis?

    1. That's a good question; my assumption was that it was the year over year change in terms of % indexed by summer or winter.

I'm actually closing on a house in less than two weeks, so I've been watching in interest RW's comments both in the Daily Alert & his site on this being a good time to buy.

      Hopefully he's right.

I'm worried that the inflation might cripple people further instead of causing home prices to go up...I guess we'll see.

My market is vastly different from other real estate markets there's that. I think there's tremendous differences in different areas of the country in terms of house valuation and their long term price stability and/or growth/loss.
