ALERT: Major Climate Warnings

In 1971, Stanford University professor Paul Ehrlich, who is perhaps best known for his 1968 book The Population Bomb, said in a speech at the British Institute for Biology. “By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people,” he claimed. “If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000 and give ten to one that the life of the average Briton would be of distinctly lower quality than it is today.”
---
In March 2000, “senior research scientist” David Viner, working at the time for the Climatic Research Unit t the University of East Anglia, told the U.K. Independent that within “a few years,” snowfall would become “a very rare and exciting event” in Britain. “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he was quoted as claiming in the article, headlined “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.”

Today's reality:

---

In 2001, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicted in its global-warming report,  that the planet would see “warmer winters and fewer cold spells, because of climate change.”

Today's reality:

NYC braces for coldest day in two decades

----
James Hansen, who headed NASA’s Goddard Institute for three decades before taking a post at Columbia University, is one of the best known “climatologists” in the world, according to The New American.

In 1988, Hansen was asked by journalist and author Rob Reiss how the “greenhouse effect” would affect the neighborhood outside his window within 20 years (by 2008). “The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water,” Hansen claimed. “And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds. And the same birds won’t be there. The trees in the median strip will change....”

Then, of course, we have Al Gore.

In the years. 2007, 2008, and 2009, Gore publicly warned that the North Pole would be “ice-free” in the summer by around 2013 because of alleged “man-made global warming.”

Speaking to an audience in Germany five years ago, Gore said that “the entire North Polarized [sic] cap will disappear in five years.” “Five years,” Gore said again, in case anybody missed it the first time, is “the period of time during which it is now expected to disappear.”

Then, there are the latest climate observations of President Obama. Via The New American:
In his second-term inaugural address, Obama also made some climate claims, saying: “Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires and crippling drought and powerful storms.” Ironically, all three of the examples he provided of what he called the “threat of climate change” actually discredit his argument.
As Forbes magazine pointed out last year, the number of wildfires has plummeted 15 percent since 1950, and according the National Academy of Sciences, that trend is likely to continue for decades. On “droughts,” a 2012 study published in the alarmist journal Nature noted that there has been “little change in global drought over the past 60 years.”The UN’s own climate alarmists were even forced to conclude last year that in many regions of the world, “droughts have become less frequent, less intense, or shorter.”
Regarding hurricanes and tornadoes, it probably would have been hard for Obama to choose a worse example to illustrate the alleged threat of man-made warming. Contrary to predictions by global warmists, hurricanes and tornadoes have been hitting in record-setting low numbers. “When the 2014 hurricane season starts it will have been 3,142 days since the last Category 3+ storm made landfall in the U.S., shattering the record for the longest stretch between U.S. intense hurricanes since 1900,” noted professor of environmental studies Roger Pielke, Jr. at the University of Colorado...

  1. In 1981 James Hansen, at the time the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, declared (essentially inventing) the "Greenhouse Gas Effect" (GHE) to be 33 degrees centigrade (33C). This was based on his assumption that the Earth is a black body with a radiating temperature of (-18.3C). Since the radiating temperature of Earth is measured to be about +15C, Hansen declared the GHE to be 33C. Everyone was horrified, Hansen got famous, Al Gore got rich and the rest is history. This is from an EU2014 presentation by Dr. Pierre Latour that I just re-watched. This presentation is as good as the one by Ben Davidson I suggested in a comment on the EPJ post Richard Lindzen: Deconstructing Global Warming Hysteria.

I encourage all to all to investigate the Electric/Plasma Universe theories. It is to Astrophysics (and many other aspects of science) as the Austrian School of Economic is to the mainstream economic views of today.

Considering their predictions the likes of Hansen and Gore must have thought that we would all be suckered into their scheme within enough time and with (in)appropriate vigor, that the scheme would now be so institutionalized that the gross inaccuracies of their predictions would not be of much consequence. The gross inaccuracies of their predictions have not stopped the anthropogenic global warming, I mean, climate change crowd. If there were really "consensus" on some of these predictions of catastrophe we would have made real changes such as agricultural techniques to sequester carbon, or try radical cooling technology such as cloud whitening. The only real consensus is for more centralized control.

    1. Irrespective of any consensus, some posit that TPTB are already attempting "radical" cooling technology. It's called geoengineering and the science and patents involved are not even remotely new or novel. Geoengineering covers a wide range of weather modification techniques including the spraying of aerosols in the stratosphere for the purposes of Solar Radiation Management, a.k.a "global dimming." Other acknowledged techniques, such as using ionosphere heaters, a.k.a HAARP, are said to be used to intervene, in connection with aerosol spraying, in the jet stream in order to create "polar vortexes" and other unnatural cooling events in the Eastern half of the U.S. so as to protect the seats of political and financial power from the harmful effects of warming and to create the perception among the majority of the U.S. population that there is no global warming while recorded temperatures everywhere else on the globe are significantly higher than normal. The point of this psyop is to attempt to hide the situation and the efforts to mitigate it or at least sow division among the people and, at the same time, not create alarm in the population centers.
