Step Right Up And Get Your NYC Micro Apartment for Between $2,000 and $3,000 a Month

NYT reports:
For most single New Yorkers, the tyranny of living in a small space, or worse, a shared space, is all too familiar.

And with the number of single New Yorkers growing, the demand for more of these spaces is inevitable.

Enter My Micro NY, the city’s first micro-apartment complex, at 335 East 27th Street, with 55 units ranging from 260 to 360 square feet. The building will begin leasing studios this summer for around $2,000 to $3,000 a month.

  1. At $2,000 to $3,000, those better be awesome living spaces.

  2. How easily they call living in a small space 'tyranny,' but you better never use that term when referring to the government, citizen.

  4. Do you see how the policy makers in NYC are more than willing to ignore and eventually reverse their onerous zoning and occupancy laws when the circumstances fit their view of how the world ought to be? i.e. letting people pay a hefty sum of money to stuff themselves into shoebox sized dwellings, stacked to the stratosphere on top of each other.

This is yet another example of the enormous bubble that is Manhattan. Every single market in Manhattan is a giant bubble sustained and nourished by easy Fed money endlessly flowing into the giant banking institutions on Wall Street. Will it ever stop? Yes. But when and how? Nobody knows. But my guess is that the Fed will always put the U.S. dollar on the chopping block before they allow Manhattan to become the next Detroit.
