Obama to Meet With Early Uber Investor

President Barack Obama will be in  the Bay Area on Friday to address the U.S. Conference of Mayors in San Francisco and attend Democratic fundraisers.

The presidentis scheduled to arrive at San Francisco International Airport on Air Force One shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

He is scheduled to address the 83rd annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square Hotel on Friday afternoon.

Following the meeting, Obama is also scheduled to attend fundraisers for the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee while in San Francisco.

DNC officials said their event will be a roundtable at the home of Iranian billionaire venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar, with around 30 supporters attending and donating $33,400 each.

Accordint to Forbes, Pishevar spent two years at Menlo Ventures focusing on seed investments in the consumer Internet before joining forces with Goldman Sachs banker Scott Stanford to create Sherpa Ventures in March 2013. Sherpa's goal is to create new companies in partnership with big corporations and invest in them. While at Menlo, Pishevar led the series B in car-hailing service Uber Technologies and made a personal investment in February 2013, also becoming a strategic advisor to the company. He also led its investment in MachineZone, which has become one of the largest mobile gaming companies in the world. Pishevar immigrated as a child from Iran, fleeing the Islamic revolution. Before getting into venture, Pishevar was an entrepreneur, founding or cofounding Webs.com, Social Gaming Network and Hyperoffice. Pishevar is a big Obama bundler in Silicon Valley and has also personally invested in more than 50 startups, including a seed investment in Warby Parker.
