Janet Yellen Fueled Madness in Silicon Valley: Dating App for Fistfights....

...turns out to be a hoax. But who could possibly have known with Janet Yellen money flowing into every insane deal.

The media took the venture capital took app seriously.

Here's the report from VentureBeat before they realized it was a hoax:

“Bro, your face is pissing me off, want to throw down?”
That’s an example of the sort of dialog that goes on in a new app calledRumblr, which can be used to set up fistfights with total strangers — you know, Fight Club style.
Rumblr is set up like a dating app, except the dates happen in parking lots and back alleys, not restaurants, and they culminate in throw-downs instead of get-downs.
Here’s the pitch on the website:
Rumblr is an app for recreational fighters to find, meet, and fight other brawl enthusiasts nearby.

Lurkers can play too:
You don’t need to fight to use Rumblr. With Rumblr Explore, anyone can browse and attend fights close by that other Rumblr users have arranged — all for free!
The app comes complete with a chat tool, and a mapping function to show where fights and fighters are located. You can even filter to show only girl fights or gang fights.
Actually, the app hasn’t launched on the app stores yet. It could be awaiting approval. The website lets people sign up on a waiting list.
No sign of any monetization efforts on the site, just an effort to build a large community of punchers. But, you know, Rumblr might be a good site for advertisements from emergency rooms, anger management therapists, or first-aid supplies.
I hope Rumblr catches on, especially in San Francisco. Sounds like just the thing for all the tech bros around here.

  1. Someone is coding this now. It's too real not to exist.

I'll bet they had thousands of people actually sign up.

  2. What's wrong with this. I fail to see anything wrong with this. Voluntary spirited intercourse is all this is. Same thing our grandfathers did routinely via word of mouth. More real human interaction, character development, and entertainment than a year of video games. Should add political orientation to profile so can take pleasure in pounding tar out of ideological opponent.
