BREAKING Supreme Court Justice Scalia Has Died

Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.

Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa.

According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.


In 1986, Scalia was appointed by Reagan to the Supreme Court to fill the associate justice seat vacated when Justice William Rehnquist was elevated to Chief Justice.

He was 79.

Early speculation: Obama will nominate Sri Srinivasan to succeed Scalia on the court.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate should not confirm a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia until after the 2016 election.

"The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President."

  2. If Trump would proactively nominate Judge Napolitano I would grudgingly vote for him.

    1. He's going to be replaced by Obama, not the next president. Plus that shriveled up old lady is bound to retire or kick the bucket soon. I bet both will be replaced by terrible judges before Obama leaves.

    2. @Rick Fitz: If, Cruz actively promoted Napolitano, I might actually consider grudgingly voting for Cruz too.

  3. Am I the only one that thinks waiting a full year before refilling the court is a bad idea from a checks and balances standpoint?

    1. The Court still operates. A 4 - 4 tie affirms the lower court decision. That said, maybe it is silly to keep trying to preserve some freedom. If we go full leftist/statist retard it will become obvious to people that our government is failing. Under the current level of mixed economy the government gets to keep setting policies and then blaming the failures on its private partners. ie 1. banks caused the housing boom and mortgage meltdown, as if in prior times banks were just nicer people and they suddenly decided to rape the public to get rich. 2. insurance companies and drug companies cause our medical care costs, when the government has a big hand in everything from price to supply. 3. The cause of high cost college is a mystery, because academia is part of the media, government, academia. NGO power group. 4. When oil was expensive, it was the fault of the oil companies. They have found religion and turned into better people voluntarily lowering their obscene profits for the average guy.

    2. No person who does not have a Judge Napolitano/Ron Paul position on the Constitution should be allowed on the court. Heck, such people can't pass the "defend the Constitution" oath you have to take to be a government official, a lawyer or a teacher. I'd sweep out all of those people who lied when taking their oath too.
