Tony Wyss-Coray studies the impact of aging on the human body and brain. In this eye-opening talk, he shares new research from his Stanford lab and other teams which shows that a solution for some of the less great aspects of old age might actually lie within us all.
Brilliant stuff but a little scary. I can see a brisk underground business taking off in China using young kidnapped "volunteers".
ReplyDeleteThere was an underlying creepiness to it, for sure, helped in no small part by the science fellow's voice being akin to that of Peter Lorre.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who noticed that he seemed to go out of his way to dismiss the life-extension possibilities? He emphasized curing disease of the elderly while almost ignoring any other implication.
ReplyDeleteThere's something behind that. I don't know if it's the "creepy factor" or peer pressure or fear of regulation, but there's something.
It seems, by logical extension (no pun intended), if a procedure to extend the health and well being of an aging human brain can be found, by default, such a breakthrough would extend a human life along with it.
