Is Trump Going to Get Private Sector Hospitals Involved With Veterans' Care?

What does this comment by Donald Trump mean, from his press conference today?
And we have some of the great hospitals of the world going to align themselves with us on the Veterans Administration, like the Cleveland Clinic, like the Mayo Clinic, a few more than we have. And we’re gonna set up a — a group.
These are hospitals that have been the top of the line, the absolute top of the line. And they’re going to get together with their great doctors — Dr. Toby Cosgrove, as you know from the Cleveland Clinic, has been very involved.
Is this just administrators of the hospitals providing advice to the VA or is Trump going to start paying these hospitals to take care of veterans? What's that going to cost? Does it mean some private sector care will be squeezed out?

  1. I know two different vets who are covered by the VA if they go to private hospitals...and have been for years.

  2. Veterans can already receive medical care (covered by the VA) at private healthcare entities. One company I audit provided care to several veterans in august 2016 and has yet to receive payment.

It's the result of the Veterans Access choice and accountability act of 2014. CBO "estimates" it will cost $10bn.
