Lefty Economist: It's Time to Kill Libertarianism

Jason Pierce emails:

RW, you'll appreciate this. I tweeted your fine article on your exchange with Climate Change Bully Tony Annett at Tony Annett and he responded just like a Statist Climate Change Bully:

  1. If only we had killed communism. Instead it was only rebranded.

    1. I've considered communism to be dead, if only because TPTB would never allow the dominion they leech off of to descend to a Venezuela-like impoverished anthill. However, I felt the same way about fascism until very recently, and that seems to be making a comeback, so who knows?

  2. Im of the mind that ideas cant be killed they just change stripes (like communism and fascism have) but seriously how can lefties try to kill libertarianism when they still think it's somehow tied to conservatism.

    1. Excellent point NY Cynic. Maybe let @tonyannett know what libertarianism is. https://mises.org/library/myth-and-truth-about-libertarianism

  3. Libertarianism is for less government (more freedom). This guy wants to kill freedom. That doesn't surprise me coming from a socialist.

But where in the 20th century did libertarianism hold any sway? No where!

How about communism? Lots of places, and those places saw incredible misery. So, how was libertarianism a "twin" to the deadliest authoritarianism ever to exist?

    1. Great Brutus. @tonyannett doesn't even understand what hasn't even been tried. Perhaps he needs a clue. https://mises.org/library/myth-and-truth-about-libertarianism or http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2012/11/ayn-rand-was-not-a-libertarian.html Or, maybe just read EPJ of Target Liberty for one day.

  4. I always like to ask people who say things like that, "Define what you mean by libertarianism." More often than not it turns out they are attacking something we are not, or are attacking a lesser evil than the system they favor. Their ignorance knows no bounds.

    1. So true NAPster. Great name by the way. @tonyannett is engaging on twitter so let maybe help him understand. https://mises.org/library/myth-and-truth-about-libertarianism http://www.epjresearchroom.com/2017/02/praxeology-methodology-of-austrian.html http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2012/11/ayn-rand-was-not-a-libertarian.html

  5. Yes, kill off the libertarian political philosophy which wasn't responsible for even just one of the estimated 186 million people killed during both "Conservative" and "Liberal" Government Led-Wars and Coups of the 20th Century - including in Vietnam, Cambodia, Guatemala, Laos, Haiti, Congo, Nicaragua, Iran, Iraq, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, the Cold War, World War I, Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan.

Let's not forget the $20 trillion in debt, an army for a bureaucracy, out-of-control entitlement spending and an ever growing corporatist-police-state centralized government no matter which political party has power.

Yes, by all means kill off the libertarian political philosophy. These people don't understand that a libertarian political economy has never truly been implemented, nor has even it's weaker versions been used since the 19th century.

Reagonomics was not libertarian. Libertarian political economy is sound money, strong and just remedies for fraud and other NAP violations and otherwise pure non-intervention. We can discuss what life's like in a libertarian political economy once either the Fed or the IRS is abolished. Until then, we'll have to agree that the corporatism of both political parties has led to greater wealth distribution to the 1% than what would have been had there not been government interference in the market.

    1. Excellent points Stuffed Pimento. @tonyannett doesn't understand his own statist death cult anymore than he understands libertarianism or economics. He could use strong does of the following: http://www.epjresearchroom.com/2017/02/praxeology-methodology-of-austrian.html https://mises.org/library/myth-and-truth-about-libertarianism
