President Trump has announced he has named Goldman Sachs managing director James Donovan to serve as deputy treasury secretary, selecting his fifth Goldman banker to take a senior role in his administration.
Donovan has spent nearly 25 years at Goldman, where he worked with companies and individuals both as an investment banking adviser and as an investment management overseer.
This guy is a total Republican establishment crony.
According to The New York Times, one of his biggest clients has been Bain Capital, hwere Mitt Romney was a founder.
Donovan also acted as an economic policy adviser to Romney during his 2012 presidential campaign and donated thousands of dollars to Romney’s run, according to federal filings. More recently, Donovan donated $95,000 to a political action committee that supported Jeb Bush in the Republican primaries last year.
Donovan also teaches business ethics at the University of Virginia’s law school.
