George L. Perry, senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, is correct when he writes:
In recent years, immigrants accounted for roughly half of the annual increase in the labor force. And labor force growth is a major determinant of how fast the economy’s GDP grows in the longer run. Nobody knows just how far Trump’s policies will go in deporting present workers and how much it will discourage prospective immigrants. But they are likely to substantially reduce the economy’s growth in future years....Is Steve Miller going to do the farm work?
[R]eckless immigration policies will severely damage the agricultural industries that rely on immigrants to harvest crops. And throughout the economy, it will disrupt businesses such as restaurants, taxis, and others that rely largely on immigrant workers. This is a lose-lose proposition.

DeleteIn Arab countries one third of men and one half of women are illiterate.
Delete@PH If we don't let in Arab immigrants, who will fly airliners into our skyscrapers? We all know Americans are too lazy for that.
DeleteDon't screw with the division of labor. End the welfare instead.
ReplyDeleteGood news for American citizens because real wages will increase and housing will be less expensive.
ReplyDeleteYeah anyone who doesn't employ workers, eat food, or use services will make out great.
DeleteWhat proof do you have? How much doe the illegal miscreants cost taxpayers and the economy? Why is that angle never discussed?
ReplyDeleteIt's true though, we can't get the ghetto blacks or brown people to do much in addition to other ghetto people.
^ Gotta love the unemployed apartheid advocate complaining that minorities don't work enough. At least the alt-right is good for the occasional laugh.
DeleteThe money will be spent on BS anyways. It does not matter what you do, the budget in nominal terms will always grow.
