The Washington Post has an article up online detailing the use of Bitcoin by what it identifies as extremists, Bitcoin’s boom is a boon for extremist groups.
It includes revelations that hate monitoring groups are tracking the wallets of groups it has identified as extremist. WaPo informs:
Public blockchain records make such monitoring possible. Researchers can study the times, dates and amounts of any transaction, along with what accounts, or wallets, are involved. That does not include the actual names of account holders, but such records can illuminate identities.Have I mentioned that Bitcoin is a very trackable currency?
Expect a government crackdown.
