Trump Adds Larry Kudlow to China Trade Trip Team

President Donald Trump is dispatching his top economic and trade advisers -- Larry Kudlow, Robert Lighthizer and Peter Navarro -- to join Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on a visit to China, reports Bloomberg.

Kudlow on the trip can't hurt. Lighthizer and Navarro are both anti-trade and them alone with Mnuchin would have made reaching a deal with China very difficult. No doubt they are still plotting to sabotage any movement toward a deal.

But with Kudlow there, he will be at a minimum a witness from a free trade perspective to any  Lighthizer and Navarro scheming. If  the delegation gets closer to a deal, it will be a reflection of Kudlow negotiating skills and his influence with Trump. On the other hand, Kudlow could fold like a Chinese laundered shirt.

The itinerary isn’t finalized but the delegation is scheduled to be in Beijing late next week -- on Thursday and Friday.
