BREAKING Trump Withdraws from Iran Nuclear Deal

President Trump has withdrawn from the Iranian nuclear deal.

Trump calls the Iranian regime a "regime of great terror."

"The deal was a one-sided deal that should have never been made," Trump said.

"We will institute the highest level of economic sanctions against Iran."

This is a developing story. Return to this post for updates.

UPDATE

Below is a statement from
Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin in response to the President’s decision:

“President Trump has been consistent and clear that this Administration is resolved to addressing the totality of Iran’s destabilizing activities. We will continue to work with our allies to build an agreement that is truly in the best interest of our long-term national security. The United States will cut off the IRGC’s access to capital to fund Iranian malign activity, including its status as the world’s largest state sponsor of terror, its use of ballistic missiles against our allies, its support for the brutal Assad regime in Syria, its human rights violations against its own people, and its abuses of the international financial system.

UPDATE 2

French statement:

France, Germany, and the UK regret the U.S. decision to leave the JCPOA. The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake.

UPDATE 3

Trump's national security advisor John Bolton says sanctions will go into effect immediately.

  1. In the interest of transparency, all Trump had to say in explaining his decision was "take THAT, Obama!"

Not to agree that this statement properly describes Iran, but the US government provides stiff competition in most of these categories.

    1. Not to mention that it has more nukes than any other government and is the only one that has used them in anger (against civilian targets btw.)

The hypocrisy of it telling other states that they’re not allowed to have nukes, especially one whose east and west neighbors (who didn’t have nukes) it recently invaded, is astonishing.
