IRS Will Issue Refunds Even if Government Shutdown Continues

The Internal Revenue Service will issue refunds to taxpayers even if the U.S. government shutdown extends into the filing season.

“Tax refunds will go out,” the acting director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, told reporters at a briefing on Monday.

This is great news. The only thing that bothered me about the shutdown was the possibility that refunds wouldn't be issued. Now that the Trump administration has cleared this up, I say let the shutdown roll!

  1. 75% of the federal government could permanently shut down and the lives of the productive classes would only improve. The parasites would suffer though.

  2. Currently, (because of the shutdown) if you try to call the IRS to inquire about a refund it is a dead end. There is no live (talk to a real person) refund support.
This is a problem because it doesn't help those who are due refunds that haven't received them yet. There is nobody to talk to about it.
