You can get something even bigger and nicer than that for less in TX. I went to buy something from Craigslist. The house was owned by a retired couple. It was 5000sqft on at least an acre with a detached garage and in a gated community. He said he paid $500K. That little house in SF could probably fit inside the foyer.
For a time I was living in Santa Cruz where 800,000 didn't even get you a shack, let alone a tiny home. A colleague of mine from Oklahoma agreed with me that for the lowest-priced home in Santa Cruz, around 950,000 US, you could and can buy a gawd-damned **palace** in (almost) regulation-free Houston, or Oklahoma City. But neither Houston nor Oklahoma City compete with SF when it comes to charm and mild weather.
Nevertheless I am so glad I live where I live. Everything is at the reach of my hand whereas in Santa Cruz you couldn't even have a decently sized Safeway without incurring innseveral years of harassment from unions and local busybodies.
It would be great to see the actual Impact regulations have on development cost. So much talk from politicians on affordable housing here in Hawaii but they don’t realize everything they do increases the cost of building
