President Trump said on Thursday that China’s president, Xi Jinping, would be coming soon to the White House, reports The New York Times.
It is an indication that a trade deal between the United States and China may be close.
It certainly won't be a full free trade deal but a crony deal is better than no deal.
The next step before a Xi visit will be US negotiators from the United States, Robert E. Lighthizer, the top trade negotiator, and Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, heading to China on Sunday for another round of talks.
At present things are a mess. The United States has levied tariffs on nearly half of its imports from China, while China has retaliated with tariffs on more than 70 percent of its imports from the United States.
