Houses Are Being Sold On Amazon for Less Than $20,000 — with Free Shipping

The 292-square-foot Lillevilla Allwood Getaway Cabin
I love free market ingenuity!

Prefabricated and modular housing — with homes prebuilt in factories— are now being sold on Amazon.

According to the manufacturer, the 292 sqf  Lillevilla Allwood Getaway Cabin  “is large enough to function as a summer house, home office or even a stand-alone retail building” and that “by adding the utility hookups this cabin can be converted to a residence.” It sells for $18,800.

Lillevilla Escape
The 113 sqf Lillevilla Escape is priced at only $4990.

  1. In fairness, this is basically just pre-cut lumber and nails/screws/etc., as best I can tell. It does not include foundation materials or roof shingles. And you have to "assemble" it yourself.

  2. Everything old is new again. I lived very happily in a Sears catalog log cabin in the Santa Cruz mountains for years. (raised a family there).
House was built in the late '40's.
Sold it in '99 for $500K!!!!
    Only in California.

    1. That's a great story. Have you ever noticed those ancient tiny shack-looking cabins in Big Sur right on the coast? I was always fascinated of their history, who owns them & how much they'd be valued at.

Speaking of Santa cruz... we saw Kenny logging last summer, he still has a great voice at 71 years old. Very impressed.
