Stephen Moore Suggests Allowing the Country Go Back to Work If Everyone Wears Space Suits

A  Trump economic adviser, Stephen Moore, who is a former member of The Wall Street Journal editorial board, has a unique approach to dealing with the COVID-19 panic.

During an interview with The New York Times, he said:
We can use really good public safety measures, social distancing the work force, disinfectants everywhere, masks. I was thinking this morning, and this is just kind of a thought experiment because I was thinking about this — why don’t we just put everybody in a space outfit or something like that? No. Seriously, I mean —I know we don’t have space outfits [laughter]— I mean, just thinking out loud, and maybe this is a crazy idea, but instead of just locking down the economy, putting everybody in a kind of — you’re right. You have to make 200 million of these, but it wouldn’t have cost $3 trillion to do that. And you can have for months people just walking around in these kind of — I mean, I was looking online, and there are all these kinds of suits that they’re building now that you’re not exposed and you’re breath — kind of ventilator.
In 2019, President Trump announced that Moore would be nominated to serve as a governor of the Federal Reserve. Weeks later, after loud objections from across the economics community, Moore withdrew his name from consideration.

Moore occasionally hits a sound free-market note but, for the most part, the free market really does not need this guy as a frontline defender.

  1. Obviously another government clown who has never worked a day in his life, if he thinks it is possible to work in a space suit.

  2. Sharks are being jumped daily. I saw on another site that Trump suggested maybe irradiating people or injecting bleach or Lysol into them as treatments.

  3. Because this is not a pandemic any worse than the ones we live through every year that we call influenza, I don’t even want to see or associate with people wearing masks and gloves let alone some kind of pandemic suit.

How long will the all the tellers, waitresses, checkout workers, etcetera be in masks and gloves? Probably most of 2020. Into 2021 if this stupid “flattening” causes C-19 to surge in the fall.

We are guaranteed to see more people wearing masks and gloves on a regular basis due to this hysteria. I do not like it. It is living in fear. If it were possible a study would find that the more risk taken the more living a person experiences.

The studies I have seen on the effectiveness of masks has not convinced me that they are warranted for day to day use.

Also, according to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6993921/ “There was limited evidence that social distancing was effective, especially if related to the risk of exposure.”

I want to see us do what our cultures have been doing for millennia: shake hands, hug, kiss, nod, whatever you like, it’s worth some risk.
