Government Lockdown Transportation Blowback (NYC Subway Dead Bodies Edition)

The New York Post reports that it’s gotten so bad on the New York City subway system that even MTA workers don’t want to ride the trains.

“I don’t really want to ride the trains for free anymore because I’m afraid to ride the train,” said Yann Hicks, a veteran MTA train operator, and union rep. “The trains are overwhelmed with homeless and you never know what’s going to happen.”

“I have to walk through seven to 10 cars just to find a clean car, and be socially distant from vagrants on seats.”

Two dead homeless men were found on subway trains in less than 12 hours over the weekend.

The Post reports that the persistent homeless presence now in the subway system is the result of regular passengers not using the system as a result of stay-at-home orders.

It is just another example of how the government blunt instrument of the lockdown has unexpected consequences. Central planning always makes things worse.

  1. What decent hard working person would not ride a subway brimming with 'duh-versity' and 'equality'? I've always wondered why the subways of Japan and Russia when I see them in documentaries are not filled with graffiti as opposed NYC metro ones. Cultural equality I guess.

  2. I love the fact that the MTA, in their wisdom, REDUCED the number of trains to ensure that they were nice and crowded.
