-RW

UPDATE 1

Mitt Romney votes NO

UPDATE 2

Kamala Harris votes NO

UPDATE 3

*JUDY SHELTON NOMINATION STALLS 47-50;
*MCCONNELL VOTES NO

Clarification: The procedural 'no' vote from McConnell means he can bring it up again on a later date.

UPDATE 4

Here is what went down:

Hours before the Senate was set to vote on Shelton’s confirmation, Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) said he would immediately quarantine while waiting for test results, so he didn't vote which would have put her over the top, given that McConnell would have voted YES making it a tie at 49-49, which Vice-President Pence would have broken by voting in favor of Shelton.

Also, Rick Scott was not present, who would have also cast a YES vote.

The drama continues, Shelton's nomination is on the ventilator thanks to the Grassley COVID-19 quarantine and Scott MIA. (UPDATE: Scott is also in quarantine.)

  1. "*MCCONNELL VOTES NO TO PRESERVE OPTION TO RECONSIDER THE VOTE"

    That's a dirty trick that politicians use to basically allow them to get another try at the vote when the numbers are more to their advantage. Usually they wait until all the other votes have been counted and then they cast their own, giving them the option of voting to pass the measure or voting to allow them to redo the vote in the future. It's too much power for one person and should not be allowed.
