Goldman CEO: Remote Work Is Aberration, Not the New Normal

So where does Goldman Sachs stand on the work from home theme?

David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs, said at a Credit Suisse Group AG conference on Wednesday, that our employees working from home "is not ideal for us and it’s not a new normal. It’s an aberration that we are going to correct as quickly as possible.”

“I am very focused on the fact that I don’t want another class of young people arriving at Goldman Sachs in the summer remotely,” Solomon said.

  1. Ohhh, I think that'll be a good match-up: the banksters vs. the most successful hobgoblin since Al Qaeda

  2. Well, a stopped clock, something something...

Yes, it is. It is a disaster for team cohesion, productivity, and simply personal sanity. The novelty wears off in about 18 months.

  3. Managers got to manage. The only reason to spend so many hours in the office is to show management you're spending so many hours in the office. Same as always. The nonsense metric by which employees are judged. Never mind the guy who did twice the work in 8 hours and went home on time the hard worker is the one who got half the work done but was in the office 12 hours a day including saturday.
