Canadian Hedge Fund Wins Buffett Lunch Auction

According to a statement from the charity Gilde Foundation, the winner of the 2009 Warren Buffett Power Lunch Auction was Canadian hedge fund, Salida Capital. The firm won with a bid of $1.68 million.

According to its web site, Salida's Multi Strategy Fund lost 66.50% in 2008 and YTD is up 83.38% this year.

President and Chief Executive Officer of Salida is Courtenay Wolfe. Prior to joining Salida, Courtenay was senior vice president of sales and strategy at Tricycle Asset Management. She joined the firm in its infancy stages and was responsible for building the firm’s sales, marketing and operations teams. Tricycle’s assets went from under $100 million to more than $1 billion in less than 3 years.

  1. LOL... they haven't even broken even yet and they're now spending almost $2m of client money on feeding their ego with a lunch with Warren Buffett?!
