William E. Kennard, a Carlyle Group executive and former Federal Communications Commission chairman, is President Barack Obama’s pick for U.S. ambassador to the European Union, according to people familiar with the matter, reports Bloomberg.
Obama last week named Philip Murphy, a former Goldman Sachs executive, to be ambassador to Germany. Murphy is a former finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee. Kennard helped Obama raise money for his 2008 presidential campaign.
